Oliver Klein Melbourne Immunotherapy Network Winter Retreat 2018

Oliver Klein

Dr Oliver Klein is a medical oncologist and clinician scientist at the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Centre/ ONJCRI in Melbourne with a long-standing interest and experience in cancer immunotherapy. He has been involved for many years in translational research at the Cancer Immunobiology Laboratory of the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Research Institute (formerly known as Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research). His main clinical interests are the treatment of patients with skin malignancies and the evaluation of novel immunotherapies in patients with solid cancers. Dr Klein pioneered a clinical trial using immunotherapy with checkpoint inhibitors in patients with advanced rare cancers (CA209-538). This trial demonstrated unprecedented activity across a range of rare malignancies and lead to a larger Australian wide follow up trial that is currently ongoing. Dr Klein’s translational research focuses on the identification of tumour agnostic biomarkers for immunotherapy using checkpoint blockade and the impact of myeloid cell populations on the outcome of immunotherapy in patients with cancer.
